Building a Hugo Progressive Web App with Gulp, ES6, SASS, and Bootstrap Support

I’ve been using Hugo across a few different projects for almost 2 years now. Recently the Bootstrap team announced they’d be replacing Jekyll with Hugo for their docs which seems like pretty solid validation for the project.

I hope others decide to take Hugo on as their static site generator, I think the community would benefit from having additional developers as it receives more exposure.

To help those who are looking to give it a go I thought I’d put together a how-to for what I would consider to be good practice for building a site in Hugo that supports ES6 and SASS.

This free and open source media distribution platform which already links to some fantastic channels and has some great introductionary playlists , can be expanded on by someone like you!

This completely free software (GNU GPL v3) is open for cooperative development (Github Issues/Pull Requests) and welcome to be added to, edited, and duplicated (by anyone who grants the same to others using their work).

I’m just writing a blog post, like I would have done in Wordpress years ago, before I made the decision to move to a statically generated site for the huge development and security improvements that it brings.

But I stopped posting, I mean I started again recently, but the barrier of entry is still there. Pull up vim and stare at a completely blank screen and … don’t type, because it’s so intimidating.

The rate of technological evolution is increasing exponentially, devices which we couldn’t imagine existing 20 years ago are now a mainstream part of life. Consumer product development is only one area of advancement though, and it’s hardly the cutting edge.
